Devil May Cry 3

A big arsenal of tools that you can mix and match and a good variety
of enemies to pit your loadouts and combos against. Some fun bosses
ranging from entertaining gimmicks to precise mechanical execution.
Good variety of level design, fun art style, an earnest story that
walks the line between saying what it wants to without overstaying its
welcome. Game's really got it all as far as I'm concerned. And
once you know what you're doing it's pretty quick to beat, so the
temptation to pick it up and do a run is always lurking.
I've liked lots of the games in the series, but this one remains a
standout. It feels appropriate that a prequel coming-of-age story for
the series protagonist was also where the franchise really found its
stride.
